Searching Cases by Name
Indiana MyCase is the easiest public route into a non-confidential Jasper County case search. Pick the Name tab and type a last name. A first name, middle name, or birth date narrows things down. Businesses get their own field. When you know the county, choose Jasper Circuit Court or Jasper Superior Court. The filing-date filter bounds one thing. It marks when the case began, not when any hearing took place.
Common surnames can fill a long list. MyCase can return up to 1,000 results. A court, case family, status, or date filter may be essential. Compare details before opening a result. Check the court, case type, filing date, status, case number, and party role. A matching spelling alone proves nothing about identity.
- Open MyCase and choose the Name tab.
- Enter the last name plus another permitted detail.
- Select a Jasper County court, case family, status, or filing range.
- Compare each result, then open the matching summary.
- Read the dated CCS events and verify key facts with the clerk.
| Field | Type | Required | Use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Last name | Text | Yes | Pair with another name or birth date. |
| First or middle | Text | No | Narrows a common name. |
| Court | Dropdown | No | Choose Jasper Circuit or Superior. |
| Case family | Filter | No | Criminal, civil, family, or probate. |
| File date | Date range | No | Limits case opening dates. |
Jasper County MyCase Search Tabs
The official MyCase search form splits its searches into Case, Name, and Attorney tabs. Use the Case tab for a case number, citation number, or cross-reference. Enter one identifier at a time. The Attorney tab takes a lawyer's name or bar number. Every route taps the same statewide public index. Each one just starts from a different known fact.
Jasper County runs no separate public docket database with deeper local results. Some files are not remote. For certified copies, older records, and authoritative balances, the county layer is the clerk's counter and its division phone lines. Public access needs no account. Attorneys and parties can see documents the general public cannot.
The official search template lays out the fields a Jasper County case search relies on.

Tab layout matters. That structure explains why a citation typed into a name field will never surface the traffic case.
Searching by Case Number
Nothing beats a full Indiana case number for precision. Jasper County uses county code 37. After that come the court identifier, filing year and month, case type, and sequence. A compact example is 37C01-YYMM-XX-000123. The prefix 37C01 signals Jasper Circuit Court, while 37D01 signals Jasper Superior Court.
MyCase ignores hyphens and leading zeroes. Still, keep the official form intact when requesting a file. Case types include CM for misdemeanor, F6 for Level 6 felony, CC for civil collection, SC for small claims, and IF for infraction. A ticket identifier belongs in the Citation Number field, never the case-number field.
Jasper County Court Codes
Court codes stop a common local mistake. Both Jasper County courts have been live in Odyssey since November 2010, yet they stay distinct courts of record. Searching only D01 does not make a C01 case vanish. Request any D01 record with its full prefix too.

Unsure which court heard the matter? Search both Jasper County courts one at a time instead of dropping every location limit at once. The result set stays manageable, and false matches shrink.
What a Case Search Returns
Think of the result row as an index. Open it. You get the case header plus the Chronological Case Summary. The CCS carries dated filings, hearings, orders, comments, results, and links to public documents. Criminal and infraction cases may add charges, bonds, and financial entries. Civil, family, and probate matters may add party roles, attorneys, claims, or petitions. Even a canceled hearing stays in the history.
| Case number | County, court, filing period, type, and sequence. |
|---|---|
| Court and type | Jasper Circuit or Superior and Indiana classification. |
| Parties | Public names and procedural roles. |
| Filed date and status | Opening date and displayed case state. |
| CCS events | Dated entries, hearings, results, and links. |
| Financial data | Charges, credits, payments, or balance when shown. |
A missing document icon does not erase the event. Usually it means the filing simply is not online. The Jasper County court records process shows how to request that item from the clerk.
Jasper County Search Limits
The official MyCase search tips draw a line between sounds-like and wildcard searching. Sounds-like helps when the spelling is a guess. It cannot pair with a wildcard. A trailing wildcard can finish a partial spelling. It cannot stand in for an entire first or last name. Trust narrow filters over eyeballing identity in a broad list.
Too many results: Add a Jasper County court, case family, filing range, status, or more name detail before reviewing the list.

Those controls are most useful when a common surname reaches the statewide result ceiling.
Statewide vs County Case Search
Statewide search and county service are two different layers for Jasper County. MyCase gives the public index and the CCS. The Jasper County Clerk covers the rest. It handles in-person inspection, ordinary or certified copies, older files, records missing online, and a confirmed financial balance. One elected clerk serves both active trial courts through separate Circuit and Superior service desks.
| Indiana MyCase | Jasper County Clerk |
|---|---|
| Statewide case index | Local official case file |
| Name, number, citation, or attorney search | Counter, phone, copy, and certification help |
| CCS and selected public documents | Unavailable, old, or certified documents |
| Financial data may lag | Current balance and fee confirmation |
Older material may still live on microfilm or paper. Call the Jasper County Microfilm/Records lines at 219-866-5297 or 219-866-4925, and give the exact court code, case number, record title, and date when you can.
Jasper County Protection Order Search
A Jasper County protection order may not show up in MyCase even when it exists. Indiana handles protection-order lookups through MyCourts instead. Certain matters, including juvenile, adoption, mental-health, sealed, and expunged cases, follow separate access rules of their own. So the right next step turns on the type of record you need, not on casting a wider net with a name search.
For the protection-order docket itself, the official MyCourts system is where Indiana's courts post what a searcher can view.

It shows why ordinary MyCase and protection-order lookups remain separate routes.
Access and Restricted Cases
Indiana opens its court records to the public. Access Rules 4 and 5 hold some material back. Mental-health cases stay off limits. So do many juvenile records, adoptions, sealed items, and protected personal data. Investigative material outside a pending criminal case is restricted too. Even a public case can hide one excluded document. The rest of its index stays visible to anyone running a Jasper County court docket search.
Expunged cases are different. Once relief is granted, an expunged case can vanish from view. A closed case is not the same thing. Indiana Access Rule 9 offers a formal path: a verified request, notice, hearing, and order for legally supported extraordinary access. Do not try to slip past a restriction with alternate spellings or linked cases. Ask the Jasper County Clerk which public route applies. Then verify what you find against the originating record.
Jasper County Search Follow-Up
A temporary error can stop a Jasper County docket search without touching the underlying record. Run the same focused query again. Once a case number appears, keep it exactly as written. If a public matter still will not load, tell the clerk which fields you searched. Ask whether the file is old, excluded, sealed, or simply not imaged.
For a future hearing, check the CCS against the Indiana Court Calendar. A filing-date filter does not reach event dates. When a portal result conflicts with a certified copy or court order, the official Jasper County clerk record controls. Track a case over time and note the source and retrieval date. Later filings can shift its status and its next setting.
