Find Jasper County Traffic Court Records

A traffic ticket in Jasper County lands in the county trial courts, so the clerk of those courts is where the record lives. Start a Jasper County traffic court records search with the citation in hand and the statewide case lookup, then call the clerk's traffic desk if the entry has not posted or a balance needs confirming. There is no municipal court handling current citations here. Check the docket before you respond to a ticket, and confirm the live court date and amount with the office holding the case.

Traffic Court Records in Jasper County

Two courts of record serve the county today. They are Jasper Circuit Court and Jasper Superior Court. The official Odyssey list shows no active Jasper County city or town court. The old Jasper/DeMotte Town Court, code 37I01, was abolished at the end of 2019. A citation that looks municipal therefore belongs in the county system or with the issuing authority, never an invented town portal.

The Jasper County Clerk keeps the court record itself. A traffic file can show the citation or case number. It also lists the charge, the court, the plea, court dates, Chronological Case Summary events, the disposition, costs, and later action. The CCS is Indiana's dated docket. A public event stays valid even when no linked document image is attached.

Jasper County Traffic Desk

Citation questions go to the Traffic Division at 115 W. Washington St., Suite 204, Rensselaer, per the official Jasper County traffic page. Call 219-866-4909. The desk is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Central.

No separate local lookup: Search Indiana MyCase by citation number, then call the Jasper County traffic desk if no matching case appears.

The county page also lays out plea and payment choices. The clerk can explain case status, balances, due dates, and process steps, but staff cannot pick a plea or give legal advice.

How to Look Up a Traffic Ticket

Take the citation number to the Case tab of Indiana MyCase. Citation Number, Case Number, and Cross Reference sit in separate fields. The search form accepts only one at a time. If a citation search comes up empty, try a name search for a posted public matter. For a brand-new or unclear ticket, the traffic desk is still the best fallback.

  1. Read the ticket for citation number, charge, issuing agency, and response date.
  2. Open MyCase, choose Case, and enter only the citation number.
  3. Confirm Jasper County, the court prefix, charge, and party role.
  4. Open the CCS and record the newest court date, status, and financial entry.
  5. If no entry appears, call 219-866-4909 or visit the clerk counter.
  6. Ask the desk to confirm the date, current amount, and permitted response route.

Jasper County Citation Numbers

A citation number is not an Indiana case number. Once the court files the matter, it gets a uniform identifier. Its first group carries Jasper County code 37. The court segment is commonly C01 or D01. Filing year and month, case type, and sequence fill the remaining groups.

Never force the ticket number into that format. Search its printed identifier in the Citation Number field instead. When MyCase hands you the court case number, keep both. The citation helps the traffic desk find the ticket. The case number is the clearest key for later hearings, copies, and CCS review.

Finding Your Traffic Court Date

Start with the officer date printed on the ticket. MyCase may then show a scheduled event in the CCS. Indiana Court Calendar is a separate near-term tool. It covers the past seven days and next four weeks. Its current Jasper selector lists Jasper Superior Court, not Circuit Court. So a blank calendar result does not mean a C01 hearing was canceled.

Citation numberPrinted ticket identifier used in MyCase's Case tab.
Case numberIndiana format such as 37D01-YYMM-IF-000123.
CourtJasper Circuit C01 or Jasper Superior D01.
Date and timeAppearance or hearing setting; confirm any later reset.
LocationCourt and city shown in the official result.
StatusDisplayed case state, not a substitute for the latest order.

A canceled event stays in the CCS as history. Look for a later reset, continuation, or new hearing entry, then verify it with the clerk. The full Jasper County court calendar process explains the calendar window and hearing labels.

Jasper County Plea Choices

The county traffic page lists three choices: admit, deny, or plead nolo contendere. Nolo means consenting to judgment without admitting the violation. A denial requires appearance on the officer's date printed on the ticket. Each choice carries distinct legal effects. Read the ticket and seek legal advice when needed.

Admit
Accept the violation and resulting judgment under the posted process.
Deny
Contest the allegation and appear on the officer's stated date.
Nolo contendere
Consent to judgment without an admission, as the county page explains.
Deferral
A separate prosecutor-run option whose eligibility must be confirmed before the deadline.

Call the Jasper County Prosecuting Attorney at 219-866-9413 with any question about a deferral.

Citations, payments, and other court-record matters belong to the traffic desk.

Paying or Contesting a Ticket

An eligible citation can be paid through the county's online credit or debit prompt, by an accepted mailed instrument, or through the clerk route. A denial follows the appearance instructions. Hold off on mailing payment until the total and eligibility are clear. The county says mailed payments need a money order or cashier's check made out to the Clerk, Jasper Circuit Court, with the citation and a self-addressed stamped envelope where requested.

Verify the current total with the traffic desk.Confirm the court, time, and appearance method.
Use online card route or accepted mailed payment.Preserve the citation and review the CCS.
Keep the receipt and confirm disposition.Track later settings and final order.

Do not miss the deadline: Jasper County warns that failure to pay by the stated court date may lead to license suspension. Call the traffic desk at once if a date or amount is unclear.

Jasper County Mail Restrictions

The clerk's posted mail rules reject personal, online, and company checks. Use a money order or cashier's check when the case qualifies for mail payment. Include enough detail to credit the right citation. Add the self-addressed stamped envelope where the page asks for one.

Confirm the total before anything goes in the mail. One row on the county fee list has components. They do not appear to match its displayed total. Rather than reconstruct that sum, let the traffic desk confirm the live amount.

Court Traffic Record vs Driver Record

The court file and the Indiana BMV record are two separate records. Different offices hold them. Jasper County's clerk keeps the citation case and its CCS. The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles keeps the state licensing record. A court may report a disposition to the BMV. But a clerk copy is still not a BMV record.

The two files answer different questions, so each request must go to the correct office.

Fees and Copies

A posted citation total is really two things. It's a fine plus court costs. Got two or more citations from the same stop in Jasper County? The county page says you owe one court cost. You still owe both fines. A Safe School Fee tacks on $200 when it applies. Amounts shift over time. Confirm the exact charge with the clerk before paying.

Want a plain or certified copy of your traffic disposition? Pin down the case first. Then ask the clerk for today's page, certification, delivery, and service fees. Jasper County publishes no court-copy fee table of its own. So don't lean on another county's rates. They're no promise of what you'll pay here.

Former Jasper County Town Court

An old ticket might carry court code 37I01. Here's why. The Indiana Supreme Court's order abolished the Jasper/DeMotte Town Court effective December 31, 2019. That code won't lead you to a live DeMotte municipal docket or payment portal. Circuit and Superior courts handle today's Jasper County traffic cases. So do MyCase and the County Clerk's traffic desk.

Hunting a legacy 37I01 record? Hand the clerk's Microfilm/Records staff the old code, the party name, and a rough year. That keeps a historic docket search separate from a new case lookup. It also stops current traffic questions from going to a town office. That office no longer holds any court docket.

Jasper County Traffic Follow-Up

Paid your fine or finished a hearing? Go back to the CCS and make sure the Jasper County traffic court record shows it. A receipt only proves you submitted payment. For the real case outcome, the final court entry or a certified disposition is the better source. When one stop produced two citations, give the clerk both numbers. Ask how the single court cost was applied.

Settle any Safe School Fee, work-zone amount, or deferral deadline questions before the response date. Hold onto the ticket, your payment record, the receipt, and any clerk correspondence until the case closes. If CCS later shows a reset, payment event, or disposition that doesn't match what you expected, call 219-866-4909. Have your exact Jasper County case number in hand.
