How to Search the DeMotte Court Docket
Start with Indiana MyCase. It covers nonconfidential cases in Jasper Circuit Court and Jasper Superior Court. No DeMotte town court appears there. The surest docket search uses the full case number or citation number. Look for it on an official notice. A party name can work. But similar names and spelling variations often return a broad list.
- Choose the Case tab for a case or citation number.
- Select Jasper Circuit or Jasper Superior if known.
- Use the Name tab when no identifier is available.
- Match the court, parties, filing date, and case type.
- Read the Chronological Case Summary in date order.
- Ask the Jasper County Clerk about missing records.
MyCase keeps case numbers, citation numbers, and cross-references in separate fields. Put each identifier in its matching field. You can narrow by court, status, or filing range. Public results leave out sealed, expunged, confidential, and other restricted material, so a failed search does not mean no DeMotte matter exists.
DeMotte’s Former Court Docket
DeMotte docket searches have one odd trap. The old Jasper/DeMotte Town Court used identifier 37I01. An Indiana Supreme Court order abolished that court effective December 31, 2019. So no live 37I01 docket exists today. Active Jasper records run under Circuit Court code 37C01 or Superior Court code 37D01. An older citation or archive reference may still carry the defunct code. Keep it when asking about historic material. For a current DeMotte case, follow the court printed on the citation, summons, or filing notice. If the number is unclear, the county traffic or clerk desk can identify the correct route. The closure changed where cases were filed, not whether old court records once existed.
The DeMotte Municipal Court
No DeMotte municipal court appears in the official Odyssey court list. Town Hall handles ordinances, utilities, council work, and forms. It keeps no court records; those sit with the elected Jasper County Clerk, who routes each request to the right desk.
That split tells a resident where to call. Ask Town Hall about an ordinance, council action, or municipal form. Ask the County Clerk for a court order, CCS, traffic disposition, civil filing, or certified judicial record. A document may mention DeMotte. That alone does not make it a town record. Custody depends on who created or filed it.
DeMotte Town Records Differ
The Town of DeMotte portal lists Town Hall and municipal services. Its official page describes town government, which helps set it apart from the state and county court systems that carry the dockets.

Town Hall sits at 112 Carnation Street SE, DeMotte, Indiana 46310, and the phone is 219-987-3831. The site posts no clear hours. Call before you visit. For a DeMotte court record, MyCase and the County Clerk come first. A broad request to Town Hall usually misses.
DeMotte Court Dates and Settings
A hearing can surface in the CCS, a mailed notice, or Indiana Court Calendar. That public calendar shows a short window. It currently exposes Jasper Superior Court through its participating-court selector. A missing Circuit setting is not proof of removal. Check later CCS entries. Then confirm the DeMotte case date with the court named on the notice.
| Date | The scheduled day, subject to a later reset or cancellation. |
|---|---|
| Time | The listed start, which may be a shared docket call. |
| Courtroom | The room or location stated by the court. |
| Judge | The judicial officer assigned to the event. |
| Setting Type | Initial, pretrial, trial, sentencing, review, or another hearing. |
Read past the first date in the chronology. A canceled event stays in the CCS as history, and a new setting may follow. “Pretrial” is not the trial. “Review” usually checks status or compliance, and any conflict between the online view and a fresh notice should go to the clerk before you act.
DeMotte Council Records Aren’t Dockets
The officials and council page covers DeMotte's elected leaders. That official page gives a sense of the public business recorded in town minutes, which is a different animal from a court docket.

A council agenda may list ordinances, claims, utilities, or public comments. A court record lists parties, a case number, filings, orders, and settings. Both are public. They use different access channels. Search Court Calendar or the DeMotte case CCS for a judicial hearing. Use the town portal for council material.
DeMotte Traffic Tickets
A DeMotte ticket now routes through Jasper County. The ticket lists the citation number, alleged violation, appearance information, and issuing agency. Search MyCase with the citation number first. If nothing appears, call the Jasper County Traffic Division at 219-866-4909. Call too if the number fails. The county's posted process allows pleas of admission, denial, or nolo contendere. Nolo accepts the judgment without admitting the violation. A denial uses the court appearance route the citation shows. Confirm eligibility, amount, payment method, and deadline with the official desk. The Jasper County traffic court records page covers the broader plea and lookup path.
DeMotte Court Codes Beat Names
A case number works better than a name for a DeMotte docket search. Every Indiana case number opens with a county code, and 37 means Jasper. The next pair names the court: C01 for Circuit Court, D01 for Superior Court. After that comes the filing year and month. Then a two-letter case type, then a sequence. Local filings today carry C01 or D01, not the retired 37I01 code.
The type letters matter too. IF is an infraction. SC is small claims. CM and F6 belong to the criminal docket. Other codes mark civil, domestic relations, probate, and guardianship cases. A DeMotte address can show up in any category. So check each group of the number. A shared city name proves neither identity nor venue.
Where DeMotte Cases End Up
Jasper County handles all of it. Traffic tickets, criminal charges, civil suits, family law, probate, guardianship, juvenile cases, and small claims from DeMotte get routed to county courts under Indiana allocation rules. Anything federal belongs to PACER and the Northern District of Indiana instead. And DeMotte's "Dutch Town" heritage? Local color, nothing more. It has no effect on which court holds jurisdiction.
Docket flow: DeMotte incident, citation, or claim › Jasper County Courts › Jasper Circuit Court (C01) or Jasper Superior Court (D01)
Whatever notice you received, follow the court named on it exactly. The Jasper County court docket overview lays out each county desk. It also explains how to reach it. An appeal, if one is authorized, moves to the Indiana Court of Appeals. The local trial file stays put, though, under its Jasper case number and CCS.
DeMotte Court Copy Requests
MyCase will not get you a certified copy. For that, call the Jasper County Clerk. Give the court, the full case number, and the exact filing or order you need. Circuit criminal, civil, probate, and guardianship requests go to 219-866-4926 or 219-866-4921. Superior desks answer at 219-866-4912, 219-866-9451, and 219-866-4922. For older or microfilmed records, try 219-866-5297 or 219-866-4925.
Narrow requests move faster. Say whether you want to inspect a DeMotte filing, get a plain copy, or have it certified. Ask about the current fee, payment methods, and turnaround. Transcripts are a separate errand; the court reporter handles those. One more thing worth knowing: sealed and confidential material stays sealed. That holds even when nothing about it appears online.
Public Access to DeMotte Court Records
Indiana starts from openness. Court records are public unless a statute, rule, or court order says otherwise. Remote viewing is the narrower window. A DeMotte filing can sit open at the clerk's office. MyCase may show no document link at all. Juvenile, adoption, mental-health, sealed, expunged, and other sensitive records may be limited or excluded entirely.
Key Rules:
Indiana Access to Public Records Act, IC 5-14-3 supplies the public-records framework, subject to court rules.
Indiana Access Rule 4 starts with public court access unless law or another rule excludes a record.
Indiana Access Rule 5 protects excluded cases, records, and sensitive information.
For a normal DeMotte case lookup, pull up the case, read its CCS, and open any linked public documents. No link on an entry? Ask the County Clerk for that specific filing. Protection-order searches run through MyCourts instead. Whatever a portal shows, confirm anything important with the originating court, since portal entries can lag or run thin.
DeMotte Population and Court Reach
DeMotte is no crossroads hamlet. The 2020 Census counted 4,168 residents, second largest among Jasper County's four incorporated places. That size explains why people expect a town court of their own. Expectation is not authority, though. The official state court directory sends current DeMotte court work to the county's C01 and D01 courts. Full stop.
Keep your errands straight as well. The town office is the right source for civic records. A court CCS, certified disposition, or filed order comes from the county clerk. That split honors both DeMotte's government role and Indiana's current court structure. It also steers you away from stale search results. Some of those still name the abolished town court.
Old cases need one extra step. A historic 37I01 reference can be perfectly valid for its own date. No active DeMotte court answers to it now, though. Hand the clerk the old number, the approximate year, the party names, and the type of record. Staff can then tell whether it lives in paper, an archive, or microfilm. Never convert the old number to C01 or D01 yourself. Where a case goes today and what it was called then are two different questions.
